KOZYNDAN

(작품을 보시려면 좌우 스크롤을 잘 하셔야 합니다. ^^;;)

Title: Kin-san's Business Trip

What: The Japanese Salaryman's life is pretty regimented and requires him to endure quite a bit of abuse from above (and he must smile all the time). while his late nights are finished off with macho drunken carousing with fellow salarymen. But maybe this isn't the life these men really seek - every day on the subway they see hordes of young school who are girls giggling and gossiping, taking pictures, shopping endlessly...ahh - the life, the life! To be a school girl!

Title: Like Sands Through the Hour Glass...

What: (...so are the days of our lives) A little street in London that we love and hate. Great produce and crepes and record shops, close to all kinds of yummy adult video stores and gentlemen's clubs, but also a place where we had a huge fight while on a whirlwind tour of the city on Spring Break. It is sort of about time passing, moments of action, lifetimes, events. It's also got a family of veggie monsters having a feast. We are still not sure how those 2 things fit together in our minds when we were laying this piece out - your guess is as good as ours.

Title: Portaits From the (Off) Center of The Universe

What: There is a battle going in in the Seattle suburb called Fremont. long a bastion of individuality and "hippie" ethics, like so many places it is being taken over by the corporate machine. The statues that guard the neighborhood seem a bit perturbed by it all and the salmon have decided to tthrown in their 2 cents as well (or maybe they have all decided they want to become tasty sashimi for us to fill our bellies with). i don't know - this one is just all over the place - if you are from Fremont you probably get this piece (and you should buy this piece as well, heh heh).

Title: The Yum-cha Militia (My Mother thought she had SARS, but it turned out to be PMS)

What: This panoramic depicts the imaginary history of the Yum Cha militia's (An old chinese ladies' auxilliary group that most spends it time playing mah jong and gossiping, but which rises to the occasion when called upon) defense of San Francisco's Chinatown from gleeful marauding SARS viruses. Armed only with dim-sum the brave women pushed back the invaders to keep San Fran free of the disease. This went almost entirely unknown to most ofthe public, but this was of little concern to the militia - they just wanted to get back to gossiping...

Title: What's next, USA-chan?

What: Usagi means rabbit in japanese. Usa-chan is a cute way of saying it - like "bunny" or something. This piece is mostly about our hope that the next time something aweful happens to the city of New York, it's a little less grave. Not likely with the current administration, but we'll leave it at that. Plus we love rabbits!

Title: Tokyo Otaku Hyper Remix

What: Okay, so we really wanted to do more with our original Tokyo street corner illustration - the street seemed a little desolate so we decided to cheer it up a bit! The school girls leading on the Gaijin had something to do with how dan fell in love with kozy, the robots are.. well, they get around we guess. What is that crap on thr far right? Umm...that will all become more clear in the future.

Title: Naze niwatori wa michi wo yokogittanoka?

What: The complexity of the average street corner in Tokyo is astounding. kozy's ability to sit and concentrate on these myriad details is even more astounding. I asked to have myself laid onto the street so I could be promptly run over - kozy had no problem what so ever accommodating that request. Plus there are 2 naked business men in the Illustration, though one of them can only be seen on a full size print of the image...

Title: Domo Arigato Mr. Nakamura

What: A little experiment in madness - 3 weeks staight of painting in Photoshop...often times attacking this 15,000 pixel image with a 1 pixel brush to achieve detail that is lost here on the web (you have to see the large canvas print). Basically we liked the shit that Eric is pimping over at his wonderful Giant Robot shop on Sawtelle in LA, so we decided to draw it. Then we added some customers we wish we could be shopping amongst! Seriously - everyone should check the place out - especially since our work can be seen there now! www.giantrobot.com

Title: Wasteland

What: Melrose avenue - a shitty pop culture dump in LA - a mostly dull place but they have few nice record and clothing shops - we have to admit though, the place gets weird on hot summer days....

Title: Around the House

What: The one that started it all....yes this is our apartment as it looked in the summer of 2001 (except there is actually very little pink in our place). A little peak into our world and process. Life is sweet.

Title: Producion

What: A quick mini-panoramic we did for a magazine called 8.5 that a friend of our is starting up - the first issue should be hitting the streets in August, so keep your eyes out for it. They also put some of our bunny paintings in there! Thanks guys.

Title: DC Sleeps Alone Tonight

Title: Adventure Time

Title: The Lion and the Witch

What: Cover illustration for the Weezer EP "The Lion and The Witch" It was a limited edition CD available only at selected shops nationwide. Check the Weezer website for more details. Basically all we wanted was to have lcuky cats marching down the street.

Title: The Household

Title: Such Great Heights

Title: Places, New Faces

Title: Evel Knievel

Title: HORNY KOZYNDAN

What: An illustration for the new Japanese porn magazine called Naked. It is pretty much an expansion of the concept of the animal orgy.

Title: Japanamania

Title: War of The Monsters

Title: FLIIPS Shibuya

Title: Metro.pop Dream

Title: Music

What: An incomplete piece. Part of the buddha series. This one is about music of course and comes out of a love of electronic music and especially the producers of eclectic hip hop, dub, house, soul, world, acid jazz, and all that really wierd stuff that makes you want to take a puff and sit back and relax or jump out of your chair and make a dancing fool of yourself. I don't know. It is also based on the paintings of Ishwari Karmacharya.

Title: Metrohm-Peak

Title:The 12th Man

What: Illustration for Giant Robot article about asian sports tragedies. A korean fan set himself on fire so his spirit would help the National soccer team to victory.
